Our Maui Church:
All churches in Maui are blessed with a beauiful locale; Kumulani Chapel is no exception. Our Kapalua church meets in what used to be a golf-cart barn, now called Hale Hokulani, nicknamed "The Barn." Recently remodelled, Hale Hokulani is an open-air building with two walls, overlooking the Kapalua Bay Golf Course, the ocean, and the island of Molokai. A Maui church could not be more inviting.
Our Worship:
Churches in Maui generally worship in a style that reflects the local culture. An occasional hula performance is a cherished part of our services. Our usual worship can be described as Calvary Chapel Maui style. It's modern, rock-influenced, and caters to a wide range of ages. The goal is to worship Jesus with our lives and to glorify Him alone. Because our meeting place is more exposed than most churches in Maui, our worship can be heard from far away, often drawing people in.
Our Purpose:
Lahaina churches serve a unique community. The people are diverse, busy and try to live care-free. However, the cares of the world and the brokeness of individuals and families lead to hurting people. The goal of Kumulani Chapel and every Lahaina church is to cast all our cares upon Jesus and to direct all eyes to Him for the way to salvation. We aim to spread the gospel and equip God's people to do His work and build up the church, the body of Christ. We want all Maui churches to work together toward this common purpose. Our goal is to be warm and hospitable to our guests, showing the love of Christ. Visitors to the island looking for good Maui churches will find us and receive a special lei greeting upon their first visit.
Our Ministries:
Our Maui church is a godly community of believers, focused on serving the Lord, working to make the church strong for God's glory. Besides Sunday morning service, there are countless events, weekly small groups, and a ton of service needs inside and outside our Kapalua church. Dedicated Christians in all Maui churches have been praising God and reflecting His love to others, developing and using their God-given gifts to further His kingdom on earth. Our History:
Over 30 years ago, a small group of people wanted a Maui church where they could bring friends who were not believers. Other Lahaina churches existed, but there was a need for a place more inviting to the easy going, curious personalities that lived in West Maui. In December, 1981, the first official service was held on Christmas Eve in the Kapalua Shops. Eighteen people were in attendance. A few weeks later, they moved to the Barn, which had no stage and an asphalt floor. The goal was to be relaxed, welcoming, and to consistently deliver the gospel message, like a Calvary Chapel Maui. One year later, over 100 people called Kumulani Chapel their Maui church home. Like many churches in Maui today, Kumulani continues to deliver the gospel message every Sunday.
Our Prayer:
We want our little Maui church to give big glory to God. Jesus said, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." This is the call for all churches in Maui. We pray that God would keep all Maui churches pure and able to heed His call without fear and without distraction.
